1. Product Overview
The LM-AJ series adjustable open type linear bearings are standard linear motion parts with adjustable clearance function. They have the same overall dimensions as conventional standard linear bearings. The core difference is a longitudinal opening on the bearing outer ring, which is suitable for bearing housings with adjustable inner diameter. It can flexibly fine-tune the fitting clearance with the linear shaft, ensuring smooth linear motion and good installation adaptability.
They are widely used in various light-duty linear transmission applications requiring clearance and precision adjustment, compatible with a full range of shaft sizes, with strong adaptability and high cost performance.
2. Core Structure and Materials
2.1 Structural Features
1. Open outer ring design
The outer ring is designed with a longitudinal opening. Compared with fully enclosed standard bearings, it can realize radial fine-tuning with adjustable bearing housings, effectively compensating dimensional deviations caused by machining errors and temperature changes, and avoiding motion jamming or excessive clearance.
During installation, the opening of the bearing and the opening of the housing should be arranged at 90° to ensure uniform deformation in the circumferential direction and stable clearance adjustment.
2. Standard dimensional compatibility
It fully follows the dimensional specifications of standard linear bearings and can be directly replaced without modifying the existing installation structure. It covers inner diameters from 6 mm to 150 mm, matching corresponding shafts and housings, greatly reducing equipment upgrade and replacement costs.
3. Ball rolling structure
It adopts a steel ball rolling drive structure with point contact between balls, outer ring and shaft, minimizing friction resistance, ensuring smooth linear movement, reducing wear and extending service life. Compared with open type (-OP) products, LM-AJ does not reduce the number of ball rows, so it has better load stability.
4. Seal options
Some models support non-sealed design for limited installation space. Seals can be selected according to the working environment to balance dust protection and movement flexibility.
2.2 Material Specifications
Core components are made of high-performance bearing steel. The outer ring and rolling elements use standard bearing steel with excellent hardness, wear resistance and deformation resistance, capable of bearing certain radial loads for general industrial environments.
SUJ2 bearing steel is used by default. Stainless steel is available for customized models, suitable for humid, slightly corrosive and special working conditions.
3. Key Performance Parameters
- Inner diameter range: 6 mm – 150 mm, matching corresponding shafts and housings.
- Fitting clearance can be flexibly adjusted via adjustable bearing housings: normal clearance for general applications, small clearance for high-precision requirements. Excessive adjustment leading to negative clearance is strictly prohibited.
- Housing fit tolerance:
- Standard grade: loose fit H7, transition fit J7
- Precision grade: loose fit H6, transition fit J6
- Shaft: matched with standard LM shafts. Small clearance requires precision-grade shafts.
- Load: radial load type, load capacity close to standard linear bearings, better than open type (-OP), suitable for light to medium load applications.
- Standard operating temperature: −5 °C to 80 °C. Custom materials can support wider temperature ranges.
4. Installation and Usage Notes
4.1 Installation Guidelines
1. Cleaning
Thoroughly clean the matching surfaces of the bearing, shaft and housing before installation to remove oil, dust and metal chips to avoid internal wear and jamming.
2. Installation method
Loose fit or transition fit is recommended. Excessive interference will cause bearing deformation.
